Nourishing Your Creativity

Stepping in and out of a creative mindset can be challenging. In order to avoid sluggishness, I’ve developed a creative routine build on a foundation of activities selected to nourish my inner creative spirit.

I consider the development and nourishment of my creativity to be essential.

Through trial and experimentation, I’ve put together a list of creative habits and loosely split them between seven categories — contemplation, mindfulness, movement, recharging, enrichment, getting out, and creating.

I’ve tried all of these, and have brought a few of my favourites into a flexible daily routine.

A skilled marathon runner wouldn't show up on race day unprepared and expect to run 26 miles. They train, consider their diet, and maintain quality sleep habits. Then, they are ready to run the long distance.

Same goes for creative practice.
